My current practice has developed as a result of moving to the East of England. It started as a series of 'postcards ' that I sent home to those I loved and left. The postcards were a way of making sense of my departure both for myself and for people I left behind. They show the beauty and the differences of where I now live.” The idea has since broadened: they are still postcards but they are beginning to speak of our changing environment, our global similarities and global responsibilities. These large-scale prints are based on hand tinted vintage cards and are produced by a combination of screen print and mono print. The screen-printed image is a development from an original photograph, pixilated to imitate early print methods. I use a mono-print to create the colour tint. Every 'postcard' is unique and each image is part of a group of up to 10. If a print fails no other is made to replace it, the series is just reduced.
