Chrissy Norman

Etching took over from watercolour in 1999 and I have been fascinated by the medium ever since.

I work in traditional ways choosing either a hard or soft ground combined with aquatint for tone to produce the image. A lot of my work is printed using coloured inks blended on a copper or zinc plate, wiped and then passed through an etching press. Nothing is added to them afterwards.

Trees are a constant source of inspiration but I am always inspired by negative shapes, patterns and mood created by light, shadow and season

I am a member of Sudbourne Park Printmakers, a printmaking co-operative based in Orford, Suffolk. I teach etching on the printmaking courses there and use the workshop to make up my plates.

Home and studio is near the Suffolk coast.
